Case Study: Mixing Multiple Turkish Stones in One Project
Many architects and contractors prefer to work with a single coordinated natural stone package instead of sourcing marble, travertine, limestone, onyx, basalt and granite from different suppliers. In this case study, we explore how a mixed-stone concept using Turkish natural stones can create a harmonious design language throughout a hotel and residential complex.
Project Overview
The project combines lobby, corridors, guest rooms, outdoor terraces and streetscape areas. The design team wanted a consistent palette based on Turkish stones:
- Light Turkish marble for main floors and walls
- Warm travertine for exterior terraces and pool surrounds
- Soft limestone for facade cladding
- Accent onyx for reception feature walls
- Durable basalt and granite for high-traffic exterior surfaces
For a broader overview of options, see the Introduction to Turkish Natural Stones and the Guide to Turkish Marble Types for Global Projects.
Lobby & Interior Floors: Turkish Marble as the Base
The lobby and main corridors use a combination of light and beige Turkish marbles. The designer selected whites similar to Afyon and Mugla, complemented by beige tones from Bilecik and Burdur. This delivers an elegant look while keeping the surfaces practical for cleaning and maintenance.

Bathrooms & Wet Areas: Travertine and Marble
In bathrooms and spa areas, the project combines honed travertine with polished marble details. Turkish travertine from Denizli is used on floors and walls, with marble benches, vanity tops and skirting. This approach lowers costs while keeping a premium appearance.

Facades: Limestone and Dolomites
The building facade uses a light Turkish limestone similar to Limra, chosen for its uniform texture and good performance in cladding systems. It ties visually to the interior marble while providing a slightly softer, more diffused appearance outdoors.

Accent Areas: Onyx and Decorative Stones
In the reception area, backlit onyx panels create a focal point behind the front desk. Warm-toned honey onyx combined with neutral marble floors gives a strong identity to the hotel entrance without overwhelming the overall design.

Exterior & Streetscape: Basalt, Andesite and Granite
For exterior walkways, parking areas and surrounding streetscape, the project uses Turkish basalt and andesite pavers combined with selected granite pieces. These stones provide high slip resistance and durability against traffic and weather.

Why Work with a Coordinated Stone Package
Coordinating multiple Turkish stones in one package helps ensure:
- Consistent color and quality across different areas
- Optimized cutting, packing and logistics from factories in Turkey
- Better budget control when mixing marble, travertine, limestone and granite
- Clear communication with one natural stone supplier or exporter
